Universities Connecting Regulators Practical

Our University Connecting Regulators Practical Workshop gives participants the opportunity to learn how to safely connect regulators to gas cylinders, set them up correctly and test for leaks in a practical environment.

The 1½ - 2 hour workshop is aimed at lecturers, health and safety officers, managers, supervisors, technicians and students who use gas cylinders and associated equipment in a laboratory or other similar environment.

Please note that prior to attending this workshop all delegates must have received safety awareness training. This is most easily achieved by completing our online Using Gas Cylinders Safely within Universities e-Learning workshop. Alternatively, the safety awareness training can be delivered in the more traditional way by an instructor. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

• Correct regulator checking and fitting procedure
• Practical Session:-
• Visual checks gas cylinder and equipment
• Correct fitting of regulators and hoses
• Opening cylinder valves safely
• Setting correct working flow/pressures
• Correct leak test procedures prior to use
• Closing the cylinder and safely releasing pressure

What You Will Learn

The workshop will enable participants to:

• Appreciate the need for personal protective equipment and using the correct cylinder trolleys
• Correctly identify gas cylinders
• Recognise how cylinders operate Identify potential hazards on gas regulators
• Select the correct gas control equipment
• Experience how to correctly fit a gas regulator to a cylinder valve
• Recognise the need to open cylinder valves slowly
• Correctly leak test a gas system
• Recognise the need for safe shut-down procedures
• Introduce safe working practices into their workplace

The workshop is priced at £750, a maximum of 20 delegates may attend.

VAT is payable at the standard rate. Certificates of attendance will be issued.
